“We spend a lot time designing the bridge, but not enough time thinking about the people who are crossing it.”
– Dr. Prabhjot Singh
What is ‘deep listening’, why does it matter and how can it benefit the UNDP approach to effective policy and program craft? In this session we will touch upon some of the top modalities for getting this right, even in the COVID context, and have the opportunity to learn from those running it in the field.
Practitioner coaching sessions allow COs to bring a case study or initiative to a practitioner to walk through how a specific approach might be applied. The session kicks off with a practitioner walking through a project timeline to show the approach in action. A country office then gives a 4-minute, one-slide presentation of what they are hoping to do. This is followed by questions and discussion around the project. Country office case studies for this session must be submitted in advance. Where there are multiple coaches, the session is divided into breakout groups. This session is conducted under Chatham House rules.

About UNDP Innovation
UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. Working with our broad network of experts and partners in 170 countries, we help nations to build integrated, lasting solutions for people and planet.
Across the globe, government teams are pioneering new ways to solve our biggest challenges. States of Change is a collective that exists to support this growing global movement.
UNDP Asia-Pacific launched the Regional Innovation Centre in November 2018 to spearhead institutionalization of the new way of solving development issues, provide a safe space to test development solutions through portfolios of policy experiments, and innovative culture that would help governments, UNDP, and other partners be on the front-foot of spotting, understanding and integrating new development approaches into its work.
